Rest and Relaxation... finally a break!

Normally, when the weekend is winding down and I sit in front of my computer I have plenty to write about. Our weekends are usually busy, so they give me plenty to recap. Well this weekend was uneventful thankfully. Saturday we met Andrea for a late lunch at a Mediterranean restaurant. It's pretty new and she's been wanting to try it out. Food was good, not amazing just good. Then being the party animals we are headed out to my co-workers 30Th birthday luau. They went all out with the theme, you got laied as you walked in, the food had a Hawaiian tang and last but not least and not exactly luau related but they had a chocolate fountain which was a hit!

Dennis lost a bet to Jessie and had to buy him a burger. So we met Him, Robert and Mandy at Slater's 50/50 burger. They basically give you a check off sheet and you check off what you want on your burger. They are famous for the 50/50 which is 50% beef and 50% ground bacon. It's delicious, as if I needed to state that. I think it should speak for itself. The rest of my Sunday was spent right here on my couch. I didn't move unless I absolutely had too. Dennis started getting everything ready for the river, he's always over prepared and such a planner!

As I sit here thinking back about how chill the whole last week was, I realize what is in store for us this week. I'm basically pulling an all nighter on Wednesday.(midnight showing of Sex in the city 2, and leaving for the rived at 3am) and Camping Thursday thru Sunday.

Geez... At least I'll have plenty to write about after the river!

With age comes the realization that relaxing weekends are needed. Wait I need to rephrase that... I'm not old... I'm only 27! Late 20's Oh man... Okay gotta stop this train of thought. That's a whole topic in it self...

66ers and Strawberries

So again, we OVERBOOKED our weekend. And when I say (we), I mean I overbooked. Saturday morning we were up and the crack of dawn for the community yard sales. Dennis' parents neighborhood does a huge yard sale every year in May. You end up getting a TON of people, who dig and try to talk you down from your already SUPER DUPER low prices. Seriously people, if you wanted to get something free you should have stole it. When someone is trying to talk you down from $.50, there is a problem. We didn't sell much, just some extra stuff that we had either acquired free or stuff that we had that was old and we'd never use again. Over all we made about $70. Not to shabby, if I do say so...

After the yard sale we headed home to get ready for the baseball game. Dennis got tickets for a Dodger's minor league team the Inland Empire 66ers. The tickets were $10 and we were literally front row behind home plate. Check out some of the pictures we took:

Front & Center

The two of us!

The Mascot, I'll admit he made the game. He kept cracking us up!

The team had cheerleaders. LOL

Dennis' dream job: To clock the pitches for a MLB team:

Best/ Worst beer: Best cause it hit the spot, worst cause it was Bud Light.

Highlight of the game: They showed Dennis and I on the jumbo screen and we busted the ROBOT! All the people around us starting laughing and clapping! Too funny, We seriously have a blast doing random stuff!

Sunday we woke up early and headed out to the Strawberry festival with our friends Debbie & Dustin. They accompanied us on the 1 1/2 hr trip up to Oxnard. Thankfully we took the shuttle. It was free and we were able to avoid the millions of cars and people that were already there.

The lines for everything were crazy long. CRAZY LONG. Dennis and I opted for food-food, such as curly fries, a hot link, and a tri tip sandwich. Debbie and Dustin were more adventurous. They had strawberry pizza (Dough, with cream cheese, strawberries on top and whipped cream) and Strawberry nachos (fried flour tortilla chips coated in cinnamon and sugar, Strawberry and whipped cream on top). It all looked Delicious but I couldn't hang with all the sweet stuff.

The highlight for me was the build your own strawberry shortcake tent. It was a flat charge of $5 and you could add as much as you wanted. Here is our creation:

Our Strawberry shortcake baby:

I couldn't wait. YUMMY

Dennis and his Strawberry Beer. The beer was terrible but at least the cup was cute! (He has his pinkie raised and everything, he's so classy)

We had such a good time during our busy weekend! We were so tired after all the activities, we said the same thing we say after every weekend: "Next weekend were not going to do anything" As I'm sure you can tell that never happens. It's only Monday and we already have plans for next weekend: 3 birthday parties, and Lunch/ shopping outing with Denni's friend Jessie. Hey at least it gives me something to blog about...

Mother's Day 2010

Mother's day 2010 was bitter sweet. Since my mom lives in Carson, City NV I couldn't be with her. Our mothers day conversation went a little something like this:
Niki: Hey Mom
Mom: Hang on...(I hear her yelling at Allyson to go potty before she pees on herself) What's up?
Niki:Happy Mother's day!
Mom: Thank you (Now yelling to Aggie to stop messing with Allyson in the bathroom)
Niki: (waiting a few sec) So did you get my card?
Mom: Oh yeah, I got it yesterday, really cute!
Niki: yeah, I thought it was appropriate
(Side note the Card was something about being so alike and not being able to stand each other for long periods of time, but we wouldn't have it any other way)
Mom: Hang on Niki, I gotta get the kids ready.
Niki: Where are you guys going?
Mom: The Carnival, I'll send you some pictures later
Niki: Okay, Love you have fun!
Mom: Okay, Love you!

For any of you that know my mom and the current situation, the above conversation is typical. She's always in a rush taking care of her grand kids. When we do get to talk it's less then 3 minutes and it always entails at least one of the kids grabbing the phone to talk to "my Niki, or Uncle Dennis" We happen to love when that happens!

We headed to Dennis' parents house to have Mother's day Lunch. We had Ribs, salad & potatoes! Dennis' parents are the best cooks hands down! I am seriously blessed to be welcomed into such a loving family.

The day was spent hanging out with the Fam (Stacey & Andrea), a trip to Kmart to get a bathing suit for the river. (May 27- 30) and more hanging out. Seems everyone was camera shy so I've only got 2 pics from Sat.

A day in San Diego, with the homies.

The weekend was a busy one. May 1st was Lisa's 28Th birthday, we started the day with stealing Lisa from her house for breakfast! It was pretty funny, I was driving the get away car so no pics. Then we went to Janee's championship softball game. They won 18 to 8. Go Toxic! The evening was spent at hurricane's a bar in Huntington beach partying up Lisa's birthday day.

Sunday we headed out with Andrea to visit Stacey in San Diego. Once we got there we were starving! So we went down to Ocean Beach to get a bomb ass burger from Hodads. We saw them featured on a food network show once and couldn't wait to try it out... check out the pics and see for yourself...

Our tour guides

We'd had enough of the beach, and crazy people so our tour guides for the day took us to this quaint little shopping village where Dennis found this lovely treasure.

The blondish mullet hat, what a gem!

Courtyard, so peaceful

We ended the day by heading to Cheers, a bar where a friend they work with is the bartender. You can easily say that she has a heavy hand. Our 'pineapple and rum' turned into more of a 1/2 cup of rum with a splash of pineapple juice.

Andrea & I were a tad tipsy after 2 drinks.

The 'cool' kids played pool. I tried but it was just bad... VERY BAD

Such a pervert

He's a pro

And so are they!
