I can't decide how I feel right now...

Happy or anxious... maybe a little of both!

There IS a little bit of good news...

The city gave their final approval so now were just waiting for the bank (Wells Fargo) to draft up the final loan docs (Basically, here sign your life away J/k but no really here sign this paper for a 30 year loan, yeah don't worry that you will be 59 when its paid off). I will admit that this is probably the GREATEST loan ever... I'm just a little bitter that this process is taking so long... and by long I'm being a tad dramatic since we just started the process in February... Some people go 6+ months waiting just to get approvals in this market. I just have zero patience so Praise Jesus for Dennis, otherwise I would be going insane and bugging everyone daily to get some sort of answer.

I was really hoping that we would get the house before Memorial Day weekend. It's not looking too promising as it stands now... We just heard that the bank wants a new Termite clearance before they can draft up the loan docs. To top it off the Termite company is swamped so they won't even be able to supply it until Friday or Monday... Another wasted 3 days...

I guess I should just be happy that we are getting a house and not be such a buzz kill...

I just want to be in OUR house already! :)

On another note. I have decided that I really have an interest in DIY projects... Not just in the I watch HGTV all day, and see something I like and say "oooh that would be awesome, I soo want that" (which we totally do) I really, really want to start making stuff. I guess simply put: I want to make ugly stuff pretty! I was thinking about making a new blog but I think I'm just going to keep this old blog and make it more about the house and things we do since in reality the house is going to be the focus in our lives...

(I really want to post a picture of the house right here, but since I'm superstitious I'm going to wait until the keys are in hand. I have a feeling there will be a picture of that too!)

So....

Were STILL in escrow... The anticipated closing date is May 12, 2011. Since the city still has to do the inspection (should happen this Tuesday: May 11) I'm assuming that we aren't going to close for another week or so... Then after the city signs off on the house, it's just the documents that need to be signed. That shouldn't take that long (fingers crossed).

I can't help but keep thinking: Please hurry people! I want to get into our house already :)

We have design ideas already and have mostly decided on paint colors and all of that good stuff. I was pretty schocked about the variety of paint colors. Behr has like 16+ shades of Grey. Seriously... as if standing in front of the paint display isn't hard enough. You find the perfect shade of whatever color and then you have to find a color that matches that base color. Not to mention that you have to be mindful that the color dries darker on the wall then on the little piece of paper.
I think I need to stop watching home improvement shows... They keep giving me ideas. Right now I think about the house as a blank sheet. Every show I watch they do some nice wall art or stripe or something that I fall in LOVE with. Unfortunately I fall in LOVE a lot with DIY shows and poor Dennis cant keep up, since I keep changing my mind...

I just can't wait to get started! Will be updating along the way :)

It's happening... like really happening

So... I've been waiting, and waiting, and lets be real, waiting to blog about this...

Were in Escrow!!!

Well we've technically been in escrow for 13 days but hey who's counting...  :)
I don't want to say too much (or post any pictures) about the house yet since I don't want to jinx anything... (Keep your fingers crossed please!) but I will say that it is PERFECT and I can't wait to start our life in it!

As of today we are waiting for the City to approve the house or give us a list of repairs that need to be done... Waiting to get anything back from the city feels like watching paint dry... It kills me. I'm trying to keep my mind off of it for the time being. Thankfully it hasn't been to hard since this year is flying by. If everything goes as planned (which I hope it does) we should be closing escrow around May 12th.

Wow, we're going to be homeowners... Crazy!

Too long... So sad... oh well... New Begining

So... It has been too long to even try and apologize to you reader, yeah you, who ever you are, for the Loooong gap since my last post. Lets just say A Lot has changed and I am going to start fresh starting today.

Brief recap of our current situation:

Dennis and I said goodbye to our first apartment and Corona temporarily (I'll get to why in a minute). It was bitter sweet, but still sweet in it's own right.  We had decided a while back to try and move closer to work. Closer to work meant somewhere in Orange county.... Well that means, MORE MONEY, literally double what we were paying in Corona! Money we really didn't want to spend. So after talking to his parents they offered to loan us money to help us buy a HOUSE! Let me emphasize LOAN. They have done so much for us it's hard to accept any more from them. They have the kindest hearts. Dennis and I are truly blessed to have the parents we have. We had talked a little about it in the past about buying a house but both thought that right now we didn't have the kind of money we would need so we just pushed the thought out of heads... After his parents offered to help us we realized that we really could afford a house we just needed the kick in our rear ends. They also offered to let us stay and save even more money.

So with that said we plan on buying in Corona, and hopefully soon!

We got lucky when we were looking for our first place together. Cheap rent super nice place. Done and done. Now, looking for a house is no joke. There are so many more things to consider, it's not about thinking short term like when your searching for an apartment, were in this place for the long haul. Our lives are consumed with online searches for homes, and weekends are spent looking at houses. We are making the best out of it and having a blast.

I just can't wait to set some roots and start a concrete life in a house, in OUR house. Hopefully soon after Marriage. Were quickly approaching our 9 year anniversary... Yes, you read that right 9 years. I wonder what Dennis has this year planned. I put the planning in his shoes this year. :)

Until we meet again...

October so far... In a nut shell

We have had another crazy busy month since my last post. I'm going to break it down by weekend:

October 2 & 3
Saturday was Grace's baby shower. We were baby sitting Logan so it was an experience for us! We've never been to a party where we had to worry about a little one. It was a window into our life once we have a little one, and thankfully we both agree that we aren't ready! :) Here are some pictures from the baby shower!

She's gonna pop soon!

Dennis is keeping Logan busy...

Poor baby was sooo tired on the way home. This is how he fell asleep

Sunday, I went to Palmdale with Jessica to get some last minute wedding stuff done. I found that Palmdale is literally in the middle of nowhere and a good place if I ever need a place to hide the bodies (Just kidding of course!) Here are some pictures of a great hiding place. lol

October 9 & 10
Saturday night was Jessica's bachelorette party. We headed out to Universal City Walk to eat at Bubba Gumps, and then out to Howl at the moon! We had such a good time! Jessica is such a wild woman up dancing on the stage shaking her booty! Here are a couple of pics I took with my cell phone since my camera sucked. I charged it but it really only took 1 picture!

October 16 & 17

The Devil camping trip

We were looking forward to this great group camping trip... Well that didn't happen... Dennis and I were the only ones who maned up and made the trip out to Lake Naciemento. It was about 4 1/2 hrs drive. We had mixed feelings since (A) we've never been camping just Dennis and I and (B) we had no idea what to expect at this camp ground.

We got there around 9am which was nice because it wasn't hot while we were setting up. We drove around the campsites looking for a site and it was pretty full... We ended up in the very 1st spot that you pass when driving in. It turned out to be an awesome spot. We spent A LOT of time people watching, there were sooo many people coming in and out so we have plenty to look at.
You can't really see the ranger shack but it's right behind where the chairs are (Right corner)

Home sweet home!

All day Saturday it was so HOT! I sat and was reading the whole time while Dennis observed the natives. We weren't alone the whole trip, we had many wild life friends. There were squirrels EVERYWHERE. They were staking us out just looking for something to drop on the ground or for us to gift them something. Dennis being Dennis was throwing bread and pancakes and anything else to them. They were his #1 fans that day. I personally wish they would have disappeared. they were kinda creepy how forward they were. I was waiting for a brave one to see something he wanted and go and grab it. Oh wait... that actually happened. A god damn squirrel went up on the table and stole 1/2 a loaf of bread. Right there in broad daylight, right there in front of our faces...  Oh and there was a garden snake that the people next to us thought was a cobra. They started flipping out and grabbed the biggest piece of wood and attacked the poor thing. Dennis was tempted to go and pick it up and make it one with nature again but they were so drama about it that we just let them do their business while we laughed at them.

Later in the evening I was just over it, thank god they had showers... I don't know what I would have done if they didn't have showers... I probably would have headed home. They were a blessing after baking in the hot ass weather all day.

Sunday STARTED out a pleasant day, the ending NOT so pleasant. Dennis was in heaven since the plan for the day was to go fishing. He went online before we left and got fishing licences for us and everything... we drove down from the campsite to the lake to see where we could fish. We were informed that if you didn't have a boat (which we didn't) you would need to hike down to a place to fish. So Dennis and I went out on a scouting mission to see if there was an area close that would work for us to fish. We found what we thought was the perfect spot. We grabbed our fishing poles and  chairs and set on on what would turn out to be the worst experience ever...

I know I'm dramatic but seriously it gets worse... Let me set the scene, we are in flip flops and shorts trying to "hike" down the mountain to the water. The "path" and I put it in quotes because it was little more then a 1ft wide strip of dirt that was steep as hell. Dennis lost his footing and flew up in the air and laded straight on his butt. I'm not joking his feet literally flew up to the level if his face and his body with all the force landed splat right on his butt. We would later find out that he broke his tail bone. Keep in mind that this was happening right in front of my face and in slow motion. I watched there as his head snapped back, which I swore hit the ground. He didn't move for a second which was the longest second of my life. He started laughing so I knew he was okay. Thank god he had his fishing backpack on, otherwise he would have hit his head. Instead of heading back at this point he decides he's okay to push forward. Knowing us what else would you expect. :)

Now we get to the steepest part of the journey. It's basically a rock in an "V" shape which we has to scoot down on our butts. This wasn't a sign for us to stop either. Seriously we were on a mission. After about 20 min in we reach lake level. It was SO flippen hot out that we could not wait to get into the water. Dennis slips off his sandals and takes 1 step into the water and sinks down all the way to his waist. He was stuck in the quicksand for a minute. We knew at this point that this excursion was not meant to happen. We just couldn't get up the energy to get back up the hill. We sat around for and hour or so getting up the motivation to get going... The funny thing is that it was easier to get up the hill then it was to get down.

I'm pretty sure that we sat in the car for 1/2 hr just sitting in the AC. We had just been through and ordeal. :)

One of his many Battle wounds

The rest of the day was spend like this:

KNOCKED OUT!

After we were rested and showered it was time for dinner and more relaxing. We were sitting there surrounded by out squirrel friends and Dennis tells me look and i turn and there is a deer not 5 feet from me. Of course my first instinct is to ask are they mean. lol Dennis just laughed at me while we watched this poor harmless deer wander around our campsite. I was DONE with the day at this point and ready to go to sleep. We decided that we were going to leave early in the am so we needed to pack up the site first. we rushed to get it done and were in bed by 9pm.

So our last brush with nature was at 5am in the dark after Dennis and I made a trip to the rest room. We keep hearing something but didn't know what it was. Dennis had the flashlight and was flashing it around when I got a glimpse of  yellow eyes on the tree right if front of us. I grab the light from him and see a raccoon climbing down the tree.  There wasn't a couple raccoons there were 6 of them. we kept flashing the light hoping that they would go away. They did but they didn't go far. They sat and watched us as we packed up the tent and said farewell to one of the most eventful camping trips we've ever had.

The trip home was a long one for Dennis, every bump hurt his booty. I felt terrible every time the car would hit a bump. Overall we had a good time. We enjoy each others company and that's all we need to have a good time!
